Today we studied longitude and latitude.
Longitude: measures distance from the prime meridian
Latitude: measures distance from the Equator
We began working on a worksheet using different coordinates-you will need to complete this at home and bring it back to class tomorrow in order to check our answers. We will be doing longitude and latitude for a couple of days so do not worry if you are having trouble!!

Hello all, hope you had a good weekend. Today we spoke about how geographers divide and name the different parts of the earth. Below are the key notes in case you missed them:
Hemisphere: Half of the Earth
equator: divides the earth into the Northern and Southern Hemisphere
Prime Meridian: divides the earth into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres
We then did an activity using the Atlas books.
Just a reminder that your homework on physical and political maps is due tomorrow. Also, if you failed your quiz you MUST have it signed by your parent/ guardian and brought to me no later than Wed.

Happy Friday!!
This Friday, September 23rd, our Homework packet was due. Today we discussed physical and political maps.
Just a Review:
-Physical Maps:
shows what an area looks like
shows important physical features (Hills, Rivers, Plains)
-Political Maps:
Shows countries, states, or regions
shows names of towns, cities, and capitals

Hey guys! The blog is finally up and running. I will update this daily with our classwork and homework assignments. Today, Thursday September 22nd we worked on "The Parts of A Map." We took notes from a powerpoint and worked on a worksheet in class. Tomorrow our homework is due. Remember, you will need to read the packet and answer all of the questions on the last page EXCEPT for the very bottom where it asks you to create a map of the route you take to school. If you were absent today, PLEASE COME SEE ME so I can make sure you receive the notes as well as the worksheet. Please e-mail me if you have any questions
